A Godex RT700iW is a very reliable and very powerful label printer for barcode labels. Basically, this label printer is the same as the Godex RT700i, the best-selling desktop Thermal Transfer printer from Godex. The RT700iW has an extra addition, a Wi-Fi connection.

About the Godex RT700iW

The Godex RT700iW is a powerful label printer that is very versatile. The combination of the good design, the high-quality materials used for the printer mechanism and the many extras make the Godex RT700i one of the best-selling Godex Desktop label printers. The Godex RT700i belongs to the desktop RT series from Godex which consists of a wide range of models that differ in terms of print width, print resolution and whether or not a user interface (display) is present. The RT700iW adds a Wi-Fi connection capability to this.

The RT700iW is the printer of this series with a print resolution of 203 DPI, sufficient for the most common labels. The “i” in the type number stands for “interface” by which Godex refers to the printer’s display. This display provides access to a simple settings menu and allows the user to quickly resolve the most common faults. Godex has exactly the same model also available without Wifi, that is the Godex RT700i (so without “W”).

The Godex RT700iW prints both Thermal Direct printer media and Thermal Transfer media using a Transfer ribbon (TT ribbons). The Godex RT700i uses TT ribbons with a core diameter of 1 inch (25.4 mm) and a length of 300 m (on average sufficient for 4 label rolls).

If a label printer such as this usually prints barcodes and / or small letters, it is wise to opt for a 300 DPI print resolution. The 300 DPI variant of the Godex RT700iW is the Godex RT730iW barcode label printer. For very complex labels where very small text and barcodes with large content have to be printed, there is even a 600 DPI variant available, the Godex RT863i, but this is not available as a model with Wi-Fi.

Godex proves with a standard 3-year warranty that the label printers are of high quality. The 6-month printhead warranty does not change this and is related to usage variations that can greatly affect the printhead life. Using Godex label printers has been made easier by the free but very powerful label designer software GoLabel.

Suitable printer media

The Godex RT700iW can function as a Thermal Direct and as a Thermal Transfer label printer. The maximum width of the printer media rolls is 118 mm.
