The ink system of the Epson ColorWorks TM-C3400 works on the basis of 1 cartridge. This ink cartridge contains the 3 colors (CMY) which combined also make black. Because the system works on the basis of 1 cartridge, the costs per print are relatively high. The successor (The Epson ColorWorks TM-C3500) therefore has 4 separate cartridges, which results in significant cost savings.
The Epson TM-C3400 is also sold as the Altec lassie printer.
